BROSSARD, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Jan. 11, 2011) - DIAGNOS inc. ("DIAGNOS" or the "Corporation") (TSX VENTURE:ADK), a leader in the use of artificial intelligence ("AI") and advanced knowledge extraction techniques, announced today that its proprietary Computer Aided Resource Detection System (CARDS) will be used for the creation of signature models targeting the mineral potential of the McFaulds Lake Project area of Noront Resources Ltd. ("NORONT") (TSX Venture: NOT).
This study is located in the highly prospective Ring of Fire multi-metal district in the James Bay lowlands of northern Ontario. Based on NORONT's McFaulds Lake Project data, acquired through various exploration programs, the corporation will use its CARDS technology to identify areas with high similarities to known mineral deposits or occurrences, in order to find possible extensions of known areas as well as to define the signatures of base metals, gold and PGE mineralization within the study area.
With over 117,000 hectares of mineral claims, NORONT is one of the largest landholders in the Ring of Fire exploration district. Mineral discoveries such as the Eagle's Nest, Eagle Two and AT12 (Nickel, Copper & PGE), Blackbird (Chromite), Thunderbird (Vanadium) and Triple J (Gold) show the diversity of the mineral potential of the area. CARDS study aims at identifying untested targets within NORONT's existing land package to be investigated further in future exploration programs.
"We look forward to working with DIAGNOS and their team of scientists to apply an advanced approach to developing new targets in the Ring of Fire. Noront has the most comprehensive geophysical and drilling database in the region and we believe that analysing our data sets with CARDS (Computer Aided Resource Detection System) will provide us with opportunities to identify new mineralization and potentially increase our resources" notes Jeremy Niemi, VP Geology, Noront.
