SomeGuy says:
Maybe no one else showed up because it's a joke, and the other communities realized that they have better things to spend their money on.

ring of fire dude says:
Considering Martin Falls was paying each blockade member $160 a day to "protest",Im not surprised Matawa didnt show up . Seems like Matawa and the other communities near the ring of fire would rather wait for Honest consultations with Government and Industry instead of taking the Moonias approach of " shaking down" exploration companies for cash every time something "happens " on "Traditional Territory ." Its high time for the community of Martin Falls to speak up as to what should be done in the ring of fire instead of following the personal pipe dreams of Eli Moonias .

molly says:
My understanding was there really was not a blockade. On the first day there was an event held for media than everyone packed up and left.

These big businesses have far too much money to throw at politicians, good on you for trying to prevent your area from becoming another Happy Valley or Alberta tar-sands. You know the history of these issues, Ontario is full of ghost towns left over from these land-raper's 'job creations'. First they'll make you all dependent on their money, then they'll abandon you like yesterday's pizza when there's nothing left, then you'll be trashed as just another 'welfare nation' when you need help. I fully support any non-violent action you deem necessary to get your input heard, as it says plenty about this situation to me, that you have to fight just to be listened to, and that it's still not enough. Any minerals in the ground arent going anywhere, they could take the time to listen if they wanted to.
