  • Clorox has just confirmed that it has received an unsolicited $12.6 billion takeover offer from Carl Icahn. Icahn, a Clorox shareholder, says he has all the financing he needs from Jefferies & Co. just in case the folks at Clorox want to take him up on his offer. However, Icahn recommends that maybe the board might want to look for a superior bid from, oh, say Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Colgate Palmolive, Reckitt Benckiser, Kimberly Clark or Henkel AG (Icahn’s list). In other words, Icahn has put Clorox into play and has no real interest in owning the company.
