Message: Noront and Wildlands League

On July 13th Noront and the Wildlands League both signed a letter that was sent to four Ontario Government Ministers.

The letter asks the government to "begin the joint process of developing and approving:

a community land use plan with local first nations in the area known as the ring of fire as required under the far north act legislation; and

a regional approach to compresensive land use planning with local first nations to address infrastructure, watersheds and other important areas that affect many communities."

I find it strange that there has been no news release from Noront or Wildlands nor is there any mention of it on their websites. The only mention I can find is an article in the Kenora Daily Miner News.

I also find it somewhat strange that Noront would enter into an agreement with an environmental group who's goal is to have much of the north set aside as protected areas.

Sorry I do not know how to put the full letter on this site, perhaps someone else with more computer knowledge then me can find it.

Puppin
