Dennis you wrote:

How do you equate Northern Ontario with the ROF? there is nearly nothing east of Pickle Lake to the Quebec border

Most of the northern Ontario is west of Sault Ste Marie to the Manitoba border

Dennis,

There are people living in horrible conditions with the HIGHEST unemployment rates (as high as 95% in some areas) and the HIGHEST cost of living in the province of Ontario in the area you describle as east of Pickle lake to the Quebec border.

The people in these areas pay 2-3 times MORE for food and yet make the least amount of money. Most children do not drink milk or eat fruit and vegetables because it is not affordable. The only product priced the same is ..booze....because you have the Liquor Control Board of Ontario involved.

The booze is cheaper than milk. How sick is that? As far as food goes...First Nations have TRIED to open up their own grocery stores...to try to reduce costs. In many cases the "monopoly" has simply tried to drive them out of business. Go on the Webequie website. You see only 1 grocery store. It's NorthWest. A nice publicly traded stock ...pays good dividends too! You can try to compete against this monopoly but they would drive down their prices and drive you out of business..they guard that stranglehold on the economy.

An opportunity has come to Ontario that has not been seen in 100 years.

The words below ..come from Dalton Mcguinty.,,from his Liberal website.

"The entire province will be able to benefit economically from the Ring of Fire. That is why we’ve made sure that the Ring of Fire is an important piece of our economic plan for Ontario."

When I wrote the words Northern Ontario (ROF) in my previous post my intention was that this incredible Ring of Fire will create tremendous opportunity for ALL of Northern Ontario. This is why infrastructure spending is so important, so, All can benefit from this with job creation.

When I read the words of Mr McGuinty he paints a bigger picture.

The ROF is not just for the NORTH it is for the ENTIRE PROVINCE OF ONTARIO. This is why it is so important.

The link below is a question and answer period from Harper (April 2011). THe Ring of Fire will be good for Canada.
