Message: Chiefs withdraw support

"If tomorrow the govt decided to build an international airport behind your back fence would you like to be consulted?"

There's the point, Cappy. Of course I would feel entitiled to be consulted, and I would have that right. But should I have the right to be compensated for my time and/or expenses while involved in the process? Of course not. Remember, they even wanted to be compensated for their time and expenses while blockading the landing strips there two years ago.

Please don't misunderstand me. I firmly believe local first nations should get first dibs on any employment/business opportunities that arise from development of the ROF. But from that point on they should have the same responsibility as anyone else to capitalize on these opportunities, or lose them through lack of effort.

Best regards

K
