As for north Americans, or the whole world, I doubt any gifts are in order due to this Greek government surviving a bit longer. And why by Christmas?
The bail out necesitates austerity measures that are not palatable to the Greeks. The nation will have to default, bail out or not. This bail out will only delay events.

In the words of Merkel - Euro is more important than Greece. Germans as a whole do not want to pay for other's debts ( Been there & talked to a few). If it come to push or shove, Greeks will be dumped. That means that Greeks will have to default on at least part of their debt. There are a few French banks that are likely to go bankrupt if or when Greece defaults.

IF we do get a Christmas gift it will come from drills in the neighbourhood of Eagle's Nest.
