"all of the ROF companies, whether they like it or not, are in this together. They all need infrastructure to survive (UC gone) and they all want the government to pay for it. Cliffs is the only company that is actually stepping up and willing to invest in actually mining this property so far...I think their opinion carries the most weight."
Sorry, BM, I see a good number of holes in the logic here. Cliff's, rather than being the one willing to invest, are actually the buzzard flying around above it all, fully understanding the time it takes for something like the ROF to morph into a mining camp. They fully understood that to throw a few million at either Watson or Novak now, rather than having to offer much more once infrastructure was here, was a good investment. And who's to blame either of these guys at their ages, for taking what they could get now rather than waiting another five or more years for maybe more?
Now we see Voisin folding his hand for peanuts. There is no doubt he is much closer to the facts than any of us are, and he understands that time is a big factor here.
I do not understand CLF, with their recent comments, at this point in time. They are a foreign company, seeking government assistance to develop a property in Canada, in a fashion that is bound to draw attention from both first nations and environmentalists, with the intention of direct shipping the product offshore for processing?????
On the flip side we have Noront, also seeking Government assistance in a fashion that will almost certainly have First Nation support and little resistance from environmentalists, planning to process their product within Ontario, with the possibility of direct shipping secondary products (chromite).
They are both undergoing environmental assessments at the moment. One of them will receive government approval at some point. If the end result is support for CLF plan, that will greatly simlify the situation for Noront. Again, on the flip side, if the support is for the Noront plan, CLF will either support it, or not support it. If they come onboard, that is good for Noront. If they walk away from it, which they won't, it will be absolutely super great for Noront.
Best regards
