Plan Nord talk hits Thunder Bay

By: Northern Ontario Business staff

Northwestern Ontario community leaders want to hear the inside dope on what Quebec has planned for the development of its Far North.

Four instrumental players who helped draft the ambitious and cash-laden Quebec's Plan Nord will present an overview of one of Canada's largest economical, social and environmental projects, Jan. 18 in Thunder Bay.

On the speakers' list are four members from the Toronto-based National, Canada's largest public relations firm. Among those scheduled to appear is managing partner Catherine Cano and Brian Hay, one of Canada's most experienced Aboriginal affairs consultants.

The presentation is jointly sponsored by the Northwestern Ontario Joint Task Force (JTF) on Regional Economic Development Pilot Project, the Northwestern Ontario Associated Chambers of Commerce and the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association.

The event takes place at the Slovak Legion at noon and concludes at 3:30 p.m.
