Municipal leaders across the northwest will be watching today's Ontario budget very closely.

Thunder Bay Mayor Keith Hobbs's visibility in the community is seen as a good thing by residents.

Thunder Bay Mayor Keith Hobbs said he hopes to hear news about government investment in the Ring of Fire.

"We want to see something on infrastructure, energy pricing, how road networks and the infrastructure for the Ring of Fire and other mining developments is going to roll out,” Hobbs said.

For Kenora Mayor Dave Canfield, the priority is fixing crumbling bridges. Canfield said Kenora needs about $16 million in bridge repairs over the next four years. He said there's no way local taxpayers can afford that.

"So, we're hoping … there's going to be something that comes at least in these emergency situations that comes in the budget,” Canfield said. “We understand the constraints and the deficit situation, but, health and safety should supersede things like that."

CBC Radio will have live coverage of the budget presentation starting at 4:00 EDT today
