Joe, Your comment "is it any wonder the FN are holding out their agreement on the ROF for a huge payout. The ROF is probably ten x the size of the projected area of Perth". The article tends to imply that this size of agreement and payout has not been the rule of thumb as history shows. I think the mayor asks the unlikely in hopes perhaps of getting half of the amount asked for. The other thing that we are seeing in the Ontario - ROF situation is that every aboriginal community in northern Ontario feels they should get in on a $100 million payoff, not just the very local communities that might be impacted. Water, sewer, roads etc. tend to be calculated in any developers plans and is covered in the sale prices when the properties are sold by the developer It therefore seems this Perth mayor is embellishing the increased tax implications that would have to be payed by the Perth citizens.
