NEGOTIATOR

Introduction:
Marten Falls First Nation (MFFN) is a fly-in community located at the junction of the Albany and Ogoki Rivers and is 170 Km N.E. of Nakina (Municipality of Greenstone). The traditional language of the community is Ojibway.

The Ring of Fire mineral development activity, which has the potential to be one of the most significant mineral developments in over a century, falls within the MFFN traditional Territories.

Marten Falls First Nation is currently seeking a negotiator to work with the First Nation in their discussions, consultations and negotiations with Ontario and Canada.

Scope of Work:
• Work with leadership to negotiate agreement(s) with Canada to secure support for the First Nation to actively participate in Ring of Fire activities and potential development
• Work with leadership to implement Memorandum of Understanding signed between MFFN and Ontario (i.e. Ministry of Northern Development and Mines and Ministry of Natural Resources)
• Develop negotiating plan of action and provide recommendations to leadership
• Facilitate meetings between MFFN and Ontario/Canada
• Produce draft agreements on items being negotiated on an ongoing basis
• Contract will be in effect from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014

Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience in negotiating mineral/mining resource agreements between First Nations and provincial/federal governments
• Understanding of First Nation, provincial and federal government processes and mandates
