Message: Final vote this afternoon

We'll have a final vote on this budget today which looks like the Liberals will survive.

It was indicated by Paul Semple in his coversation with Peter Marshall that infrastructure news will come AFTER the budget passes.

IF the budget passes today which it appears it will ...due to Horwath's support...the hounds will be unleased.

Despite Deleted E-Mail Scandal, NDP Maintains Support for Liberal Budget

A vote that will ensure the survival of the minority Liberal government in Ontario isn't expected to have much drama or suspense at Queen's Park on Tuesday.

The NDP say they'll be voting in favour of the to avoid a general election, despite a police probe into the mass deletion of emails on cancelled gas plants.

The Progressive Conservatives will vote against the budget, and say they don't understand how the NDP won't do the same.

Leader Andrea Horwath has called the Liberals corrupt for deleting emails to cover up the cost of cancelling gas plants and then prop up the government by voting for the budget.

"The budget does some important things that we had requested, but I think most importantly, it puts in place the financial accountability office, and we're very proud of that work," Horwath said.

"We're not going to walk away from it. It puts in place the kind of safe guards that prevent these kinds of scandals from happening in the first place."

She added the budget contains several of her party's ideas, including a cut in auto insurance premiums, higher welfare rates and more money for home care services for seniors.

The NDP also say an election now would kill the justice committee hearings into the cancellations of the gas plants, which are estimated to cost at least $585 million, far above the $230 million the Liberals had been claiming.

"Andrea Horwath calls them liars and corrupt in the morning, and supports their budget in the afternoon," said P.C. Energy Critic Vic Fedeli.

"If they're corrupt, as we all agree they are, then we have to call them to the carpet for that."
