Message: Ring of Fire talks off to 'productive' start, Bob Rae says

Luker, thanks for finding this and posting this.

Looks like talks are positive..with Cliffs.

It upsets me that CBC is 60% funded by taxpayers. Commercial advertising accounts for the other 40%.

As a taxpayer contributing to CBC, I would expect to see a factual written piece of news.

If I wasn't aware of Noront and read this article...I would be led to believe that Cliffs has a Ring of Fire deposit of Nickel, Copper, Platinum, Chromite ..worth in the order of 30-50 billion.

The article states:"The provincial government, the Matawa chiefs and Cliffs Natural Resources are negotiating development of the area and will need to reach agreements on revenue sharing, infrastructure development, environmental protection and social support."

There is NO mention that the Federal Gov't is also in the negotiations.

And as per the July 15 MD&A we know that Noront is ALSO in negotiations with the Provincial , Federal Gov't regarding the East West Route.

Hello, CBC ...you (forgot???? har har) to mention that Noront has the Nickel, Copper, Platinum and not to forget the chromite AND is also negotiating with the gov't.

This sloppy story is intentional..............commercial advertisers paying the 40% to keep these joker's alive...carry a heavy stick.

Back in March 'Poor' CBC faced this news:

"OTTAWA — The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s annual funding from the federal government will be cut by $115-million over the next three years, a blow that could lead to job losses or programming cuts at Canada’s public broadcaster.

The number represents about 10% of the annual $1.1-billion injection the corporation receives from the federal government.

The cuts will start this year, with a $27.8-million reduction in government spending on the CBC’s operations, and increase to $69.6-million in 2013-14, and finally reach the $115-million savings mark by 2014-15."

So, these poor buggers are having to rely more on advertisers to keep afloat.

Always remember the BANKS are usually the largest advertisers.

Every effort is being made to keep the NORONT name .......quiet..

And for good reason. The swines want ALL THE SHARES they can get their greedy paws on.

A statement like " A discovery like this is found once every hundred years", brings ALL the swines out in full force.

Another example of every effort being made.......to take.
