I think perhaps you are both right!!!
To the novice Noront holders perhaps they should have a backround on as to why some of us do not have faith in the present BOD....
If I remember correctly the hostile take over bid for Freewest from Noront happened on a Friday afternoon before a long weekend at about 13:30 hrs. with a reply necessary by opening hour on the following Tuesday.
With most of the people on Bay Street already gone for the long W/E (Muskokas etc)t it was next to impossible to get a reply by that deadline,in the mean time the bean counters from Noront put the final touches on their hostile bid. ($.45)
The hostile bid at that time forced a large group of Freewest shareholders into the Cliffs camp with a minority of the shareholders coming over to Noront.
As to an other reason I have mistrust of this BOD, was the way they treated Mr. Nemis by forcing a vote of confidence in his CEO abilities...needless to say Mr.Nemis WON the vote of confidence but soon summized that his leadership would always be questioned and challenged. Not needing the headaches he fell on his sword and resigned(albeit with a good buyout)
A few years later the new BOD called a meeting that was NOT simulcast on the web or on the radio. It is still of interest that during this meeting that the BOD was refused an increase in salaries and stock options by the proxy vote (the same type that you just got in the mail to ALL shareholders ) but during the meeting a vote was called for by only those present and the item that previously failed was passsed!!!
Ooops!!! I just remember that weeks before above said meeting Wes Hanson ferverently said that there would be no further stock dilution, yet barely two weeks after the meeting guess what...????
This BOD has changed horses many many times, first it was gold (we sold that)then it was nickel that drove us then it was chromite but now we are back to nickel.
To those of you that think that I am bashing Noront, you could be no further from the truth... as I still hold a a good amount of shares. Most of us "oldies" still believe in the basic fact that the money we hoped for is still in the ground and will be eventually see the light of day.
Have a good weekend
