Well K. we don't know what would have happened because of one issue. The ARU crew who grabbed control of NOT. Look where they drove it. The ARU crew would have then screwed not only the NOT shareholders as they did but also the Freewest shareholders if we had gone along. As it was we did make a few pennies. Can't say the same for the NOT shareholders holding the bag.
As for your statement ..For Noront to increase the offer above a dollar would have meant a huge dilution where FWR shareholders would have held the majority of the united company You have to consider each of their market caps, rather than the price per share of each company. The market cap of the combined company would have resulted in FWR shareholders easily realizing their goals of a three or four dollar share, and Noront holders probabaly over ten dollars
don't you see your reasoning here? Its flawed in my view. Also flawed as far as management saw it at the time. Lets say it went through. Who in heck would pay ten bucks a share? Where would we FWR guys get the three bucks? Would the ARU crew give it to us? I hope your kidding.
It was a bad thing for them to do. The last thing on their minds was to amalgamate the shareholders and the ROF etc.. They were and are a bunch of canibuls and bullies.
Had there been good people running Noront, Mac as well as the other plays including Spider would have participated in an amicable union for the betterment of all. You can't make deals with a den of thieves. You know that.
Mac and FWR went with Cliffs because believe it or not Cliffs was the better of two evils.
