JDR,
Thank you for your great update on the Noront AGM. Yes, it was Chief Sonny Gagnon.
Again, a KWG'er offering up to neighbour Noront'ers a little trick to see the Noront AGM video. Click here!
A wise old woman points her bony finger to a group of Mikawaa youth from Marten Falls First Nation, who have taken part in the Mining Movie Making Camp in the summer of 2012. (Learning the basics of mining, geology and film making, the students worked as a team to create their very own mining movie!)
I remind myself of the goal of the Mikawaa portal; open a respectful, responsible, and knowledgeable dialogue with the communities surrounding the Noront project.
I enjoyed the video and recognized Alan Coutts, CEO, Noront; Chief Sonny Gagnon, Aroland First Nation; Paul Semple, COO, Noront; David Thomas, Managing Director, RCF; Greg Rieveley, CFO, Noront; Paul Parisotto, Interim CEO; and Scott Jacob, Relations Manager, member of Webequie First Nation. There are others I do not recognize. One appears to be a junior aide to Baosteel management.
If I had been at the AGM, my questions would be directed to Alan Coutts.
Eagle's Nest mine was expected to cost $609-million but now stands at $734-million, as Cliffs Natural Resources will not be building a North South access all-weather road.
Is Noront's 2013 Annual Report and the Knight PiƩsold only alternative access rationale still based upon utilizing an ice road for seasonal access and the developing a pipeline from south of Webequie, which avoid construction risks due to lack of aggregate and challenging terrain?
Both levels of government state a need to "get it right", partly referring to the placement of limited public far north infrastructure funding and future multiple mine multiple deposit project needs.
Glencore Xstrata and Vale are merging to use synergies of a "one-mine" approach to counter competitive cheap Chinese nickel pig iron.
Will Noront consider KWG's joint trade-off study of Eagle One & Black Horse underground mining facility sharing and the combined use of a Ports Authority between Moosonee and Koper Lake?
