To get the price lower one has to sell first to the bidders at their price and then some more to establish a lower tier.

Two things are needed to do that:
First one has to have a source of a sizable quantity of shares or sell short same number.
Second, one has to be fairly certain that news will not catch him with his shorts down.

So it can not be by some Joe Friday but one or more sophisticated insiders/traders.

And it does not matter whether it is a person or a computer doing the transactions, ( even the computers are programmed by people) it is one and same.
