I do remember that opening ceremony. Virtually nothing was seen of the protestors.

Could add one more name to your connections though, who is mentioned in the article. Xstrata Nickel CEO Ian Pearce also left Xstrata with Mick Davis when the Glencore takeover took place. I assume he is still in close touch. Could be another player who is involved with knowledge of work in Northern Ontario.
