Cliffs is clearly bluffing. They'll never leave. Who thinks they will, really?
Mr Boor is rushing to camouflage his poor handling of the matter - it's look to me as a timid and pathetic diversion! The decision to by-pass its JV-partner in the hope of choking KWG to death was a awesome stupid move.
They certainly hired a PR firm to handle the case because they are following a narrow path of strategy filled with pre-recorded, carefully picked words: No mining without road (ie no jobs, etc...). Can't afford to buy KWG... It's all Government's fault....etc.
I can't wait for a bright journalist daring to clarify the real facts! Frank Smeenk cannot speak the truth because he has to keep straight about the railroad project, and not publicly moaning about his greedy partner...
I suspect that this saga will only find his way to settlement with William Boor leaving his position. I do not think Mr Boor can draw back from his initial plan and take the lead himself for takeover bid on KWG... (remember that the "Spider minus KWG" bid was his entry order onboard! It's now a ludicrous flop) A new VP-Canada would however be able to seat with Frank Smeenk and arrange a new deal. If you hear an announcement of a change in Cliffs management for Canada, just expect a spike in your RoF portfolio very soon...!
More to come for sure. As Frank said tongue in cheek at BNN today : "Cliffs to buy us out? Well I mean... We are trading on the market every day, anybody can buy our shares! The buying and selling of KWG is a second-to-second, minute-to-minute happening everyday!!!" I love this man!
