I was just going by memory as to what was stated, and you definitely hit on another key quotes.
I share some of the frustrations about the treaties which were originally signed 150 years ago, but all indications are that nothing is going to change in regards to the revenue sharing part of things. The fact that the FN's went out and hired someone like Bob Rae shows me that they are getting smarter about it. There is no doubt that some of the socio-economical issues that these people face (like drug addiction and suicide) are very real and SHOULD be addressed.
One aspect that I forgot to mention yesterday is that an interesting comment was made about the age of the general population within the FN groups. They are trending towards the opposite of the general population, which means that have a greater percentage of people under the age of 25. I am sure the leaders of these groups do recognize this, and assuming they do have their tribes best interests in mind, training and job creation is critical. I would think the ROF could easily appease their needs in this regard.
