Of course, lol.

It is even possible to have a lower Ask then the Bid. That is what you meant?

Possible because trading is not active at the time and the two sides are just taking up possitions. Just like two boxers dancing around each other but not throwing any punches.

In you scenario, Asks are saying I am willing to take you Bidders out due to the larger size of lots on the Ask side.

I suspect just before opening of trading most of the Bids will drop to the Ask's 28.5 cents, assuming no major change before hand.
