IFM eyes Davis' X2 Resources

Investment firm IFM Investors is considering supporting former Xstrata chief executive Mick Davis' mining fund, X2 Resources, The Australian Financial Review reports.

According to the newspaper, Mr Davis has been shopping the fund around potential local investors over the past few months, one of which was IFM.

TPG Capital and Noble Group have already committed a collective $1 billion to X2, with IFM said to be considering a $500 million investment.

The AFR reports while IFM has secured the rights to X2 - meaning any Australian company looking to invest in it needs to go through IFM - however, the IFM board has not yet signed off on their own investment in X2. The investment would see IFM raising raising fresh funds from superannuation clients.
