For the first time since becoming the Premier, Kathleen Wynne was in North Bay Wednesday. She made a stop at a couple locations including Canadore’s Aerospace Campus and the Drillers Edge business near the airport. Wynne spoke with media after touring those locations and says these are the kinds of jobs and programs which will bring and keep people in the north.
Meantime, she spoke on other issues such as the ONTC. Wynne says they realize how divestment isn’t the only option. She adds while there is no hard deadline they want to find another solution as soon as they can.
She says they are determined to find the right answer to all aspects of the ONTC.
Wynne says there are no final decisions on any of the parts right now, but she says they realize there has to be a better process.
Wynne also said she would be meeting with members of the General Chairpersons Association to get their take on the ONTC.
Meantime, the Ring of Fire was another topic the Premier touched on. She says the biggest issues surrounding development lie within investment and infrastructure. Wynne says they are moving ahead with plans for better access.
She says they have had talks with the Prime Minister about the Ring of Fire as well.
Overall she says there are no deadlines in place just yet to finalize either issue.
As well there could be a provincial election this year or next year and Wynne was asked if they had a candidate in mind for this riding
