The emphasis seems to be for experience with mine permitting.

I am not sure if this is a new position or recently vacated by someone. Hopefully it is a new position based on future need!

Job description

Noront Resources is actively seeking a Manager, Environment, Health and Safety, to provide leadership and technical expertise towards the successful permitting and acquisition of social license to operate on new projects and innovative development for their HS&E programs. We are looking for a Dynamic Leader who is a hands-on individual to ensure compliance for existing operations and to manage development for their HS&E programs to a world class level.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with government agencies and the public to reinforce the company's mandate to implement high standards concerning the environment and responsible project development.
  • Lead presentations and participation with regulatory agencies, meetings and open houses held with aboriginal peoples, stakeholders and the business community.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of environmental programs required to meet corporate and regulatory standards, inclusive of adherence to the Mining Act and consultation with First Nations.
  • Engage with business partners and business partner focused HSE personnel to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, e.g. OSHA.
  • Lead development of HSE Programs & Polices, safety monitoring, management, risk assessment programs, required documentation/manuals and conduct employee education in HSE practices to ultimately establish a long-term safety culture.
  • Identify and provide timely feedback to executive management on regulatory agencies or community concerns and recommend action plans and communication strategies to mitigate potential issues.
  • Prepare application for new permits and approvals, license renewals or permit amendments.
  • Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans and maintain effective information exchange with all department staff and company personnel regarding the HSE programs.
  • Manage operational and capital spending for HSE programs within approved budget.
