ROADWAY EASEMENT – RING OF FIRE
As you know, Greenstone is at the south end of Cliffs’ proposed
North/South land transportation route for the Ring of Fire.
The construction of this North/South roadway will have a major
impact on economic development initiatives in the
Greenstone/Thunder Bay region.
The Divisional Court has recently ruled that “it is for the Minister
(MNR) to determine whether the easement should be granted in
the public interest and on what terms.”
Assuming that development of the Ring of Fire is in the public
interest and that a roadway is required for such development, when
will you know if you will grant the easement given that the majority
of the First Nations in that area desire to have that roadway
constructed asap.
Is it overly optimistic to believe that construction of that roadway
could commence within the next year?
