Sudbury is playing host to two major political events in the next few days.
Today, the provincial Liberals are holding a cabinet meeting in the Nickel City. And this weekend, federal and provincial New Democrats are coming to town for their annual northern council convention.
The gatherings are a chance for the parties to speak to northerners about northern issues, said Sault Ste Marie MPP David Orazietti, who says he'll advocate for progress at today's provincial Liberal cabinet meeting.

"I'm concerned about the investments in northern Ontario: The Ring of Fire investment, upgrades and improvements to the Trans Canada Highway,” he said.
It's anticipated that Premier Kathleen Wynne will make public today her mandate letters that outline her priorities.
Orazietti thinks that's a good move.
"It's something that has not, I believe, historically been done,” the Minister of Government and Consumer Services said.
“You know, I think it's important. And it's helpful, obviously for transparency."
‘The three cares’
Meanwhile, federal and provincial New Democrats also convene this weekend in Sudbury.
Sudbury MP Glenn Thibeault.
Sudbury MP Glenn Thibeault said they'll be focusing on building policy for the 2015 election.
"We'll be talking, I guess, about the three cares: health care, child care, and then Mulcair."
Thibeault and Nickel Belt MP Claude Gravelle will also be seeking their federal nominations.
“I'm looking forward to picking up the flag again and carrying it into the next election to continue to represent the folks in Sudbury,” Thibeault said.
“And, you know, [it’s] something I've been very proud to do and very honoured to do. You know what, I always say, every four years it's when you get your job evaluation.”
