Message: What of Ring of Fire in 2015?

After reading one of the earlier posts on this forum I wrote a private memo to the author, who often posts quite sobering thoughts, and like others here, got me going on a tangent.
Here are some snipps from that memo, plus more, because it may be just as appropriate to all of the forum.

It is my opinion that it is the natives that are holding us back with their unreasonable demands. Without them Ontario can not appoint a native director to the Dev.Co and therefore that is an impediment to appointing mining company representatives among others to the same board.
Appointing others without native representation could be contrived as discrimination.

As Canadians they need to participate with the remainder of the citizens and not persist with 'special' status.

Some have signed treaties by which they were granted privileges but those treaties were signed typically 100 years ago and what appeared to be true and fair then to both sides may not be so now.

Strictly speaking, IF they want to literally adhere to the treaties then they should return to the stone age and not partake of privileges that the rest of the country enjoys ( Sorry, ridiculous but I just can not resist saying so ).

But more so they could have been conquered as was done in the States and dictated to as to their status.
And they were conquered in a way, just more gently than in the US of A, comparatively speaking imo.
So even if they wanted to return to times well past that option is no longer available to them and they need to face up to the reality of 21st century.

The land that they claim is theirs is no longer so. It all belongs to all Canadians and as partners in an organization that we call a country we should be all equal. No nation within a nation and no special privileges. That was our mistake with which we need to live with or correct.

Alas, coming back to the Ring of Fire:

I suspect the demands of the natives are too stringent to be acceptable to the Ontario government to accept and that means no appontee from Webequie, or perhaps even Mattawa group.

Ontario bureaucrats who are current members of the board of directors of the development company can not step aside or make decisions for directors from mines, native communities and federal government because that would be a run around.

No progress with Dev. Co. also means no releases of permits.

So we are at an impass. What will 2015 bring?

All above just hot (desperate ) air from Ed.
