Ingrid,
Sorry to hear about your loss. We used to raise 2 pet rabbits which we found abandonned in a river front park many years ago. They were tiny bunnies when we brought them home and we thought that they were miniature typed. So I fashioned a cage from an old book case. They were adorable and had the whole (carpeted) basement as their playground when they were out of the cage. They grew and grew and and became full-sized rabbits and filled the whole bottom shelf of the book case when they get in at night.
At one point they could not fit in the cage anymore. We knew that it was time to find a better surrounding for them. Luckily, we had a farmer friend who had a barn to keep several small animals, something like a petting zoo for the neighbourhood children who could drop by anytime to play with the pets. Our pet rabbits just fit right in and were quickly adopted by the pot belly piglet,...
Just wanted to share a story with you.
BTW, have you considered getting Fiona a mate? It's always a good thing to have a friend.
All the best to you and friends at NOT board.
