Many of the BC situations we read about are about FN bands that did not sign treaties so they have rights that the Matawa FN's don't have an entitlement to. What we see is NAN encouraging Matawa FN to negotiate for the same rights on 'traditional lands'. I doubt that any level of gov't is going to be proactive and lock themself into giving FN anymore extended 'rights'. That said the mining companies and gov't are under significantly more pressure to get this done. The mining compaies because share holders are going to eventually give up on the projects and companies working in the ROF. The gov't because is going to lose on the flow of royalties and taxes that come from exploration and mining I'm with the many that have stated they won't invest in any future Ont project where FN issues are in play. Just not worth it.
Waiting to hear something to indicate which direction this is going.
