Anything over four years seems to be a bit presumptious. And I would say that for any party, not to pick on the NDP in particular.
Really, if the ROF is going to provide billions of wealth to Canada, why wouldn't one want to start reaping the benefits ASAP instead of during the tenure of a future government?
Also, I'll have to admit that I'm a bit ... frustrated at some of the political discussion on various stock investing boards. When people are discussing the potential ramifications of various parties getting into power, then I think that's a positive and interesting discourse. However, when people are talking about voting for a particular party due solely to the potential effect that it could have on their holdings of one particular stock, I have to shake my head (and luckily that's not been the case very much on this particular board). If someone thinks that the most important effect that the election will have is upon their holdings of a particular stock, they're investing too much of their money into that stock. It frustrates me to think that people would vote for that kind of a reason, rather than voting for the party whose policies they believe most strongly in, based on the potential social and cultural effects on themselves and their family and the public at large. Or perhaps I have too much optimism and a misguided faith in the future of our country.
