Nest...where does one start?

https://news.vice.com/article/these-people-havent-had-clean-water-to-drink-for-20-years-in-canada

(1) notice the strange comment of:

Photo of sores that residents of Neskantaga believe are caused by bathing in untreated water

So.....the residents of Neskantanga ....are doctors too??

I've had sores on my body...from bad mosquito bites that I scratched the crap out of.

My daughter has bumpy rough feeling skin on her arms. She had that as a baby and it never went away. The doctor said it was a hereditary condition..Her dad has the same issue. Nothing to do with... water.

Nekantanga claims that out of 350 residents OVER HALF are addicted to drugs.

Drugs will make a mess out of your skin.

Meth in particular "Skin lesions are common among methamphetamine users and are due to the obsessive, excessive picking and scratching that accompanies methamphetamine use. These lesions often become infected and develop into bacterial cellulitis that requires antibiotic treatment"

Then we can talk about mold, food allergies...the list can be endless. A qualified doctor can diagnose....the "real" cause of your lesions.

===================================================

The article you posted has some great examples in it.

For instance:Notice Shoal Lake 40's comment:

They hoped Rickford would announce funding for an access road to the mainland, called Freedom Road, which would make it cheaper and easier for the community to build a desperately-needed water treatment plant.

Hmm...get a road in...so it would be cheaper and easier to build a water treatment plant..

And look what was offered:

Aboriginal Affairs also told VICE News they offered Shoal Lake 40 a water treatment plant they could share with neighboring reserve Shoal Lake 39.

But Chief Redsky said, "For us, we're an independent community, and I think we deserve our own road access, our own water treatment plants, our own schools. We want our own infrastructure, not to depend on anybody else."

Does anyone feel that offering is unreasonable from Aboriginal Affairs?

"We deserve-we want." Really?

How many residents live in Shoal Lake 40 (266 people live on the reserve) ...

How many residents live at Shoal Lake 39 (297 people live on the reserve)

And "they" demand separate water treatment plants and separate schools.

My daughter's school has over 1500 kids! One school ..period.

Rickford shouldn't be walking away from reportors.. ...he should state facts like this...and let the general public decide if they feel Aboriginal Affairs is being ......unfair...

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

IN the Case of Neskantaga...the hint of the 20 year water boiling can be found in Shoal Lake's 40 statement...for the private only road they wanted..the one they can't bare to share with Shoal Lake 39....

They hoped Rickford would announce funding for an access road to the mainland, called Freedom Road, which would make it cheaper and easier for the community to build a desperately-needed water treatment plant

So we have Neskantanga...holding up a "road" that would make it cheaper and easier to build a PROPER water treatment plant....and they are upset about the boil water problem.

And March 1 they were given almost 200 million to do a "study" of a Study already done by Noront....for a ...road?? So ...if you don't want the road ...how about giving back the 200 million?

Moonias from Neskataga...said "over my dead body you build a bridge over Attawapiskat River.". This was in the North-South Cliffs days. He was constantly picking fights with Cliffs.

So....the East west was favored...and ...now...Moonias has gladly taken the money....no finished draft for land planning such as seen by Webequie, Marten FAlls, and Eabametoong.

So he holds things back for the folks looking to improve their lives. And Wynne does ..nothing about it.

Some one needs to explain the following to Moonias at Neskantaga.

-You have a remote reserve with 350 people. Remote means remote.

-You run on diesel power.....Water treatment plants needs stable, reliable power for various equipment and heating. As an experiment...shut your hydro off in Feb. for a week and see if your pipes freeze and break and create a flood in your house.

Generators that are running prime power can fail. They also need to be serviced which means they are out of commission while this work is this is being done.

There has been some success with remote monitoring and control of water treatment plants..but you need a camera there and of course internet connection.

So ...here's the sequence: Road & hydro....so you can build the proper infrastructure for the water treatment plant.

But.....wait....wasn't Moonias given 200 million for the study of a previous Noront study....for a road??

And isn't there a proposed plan to eventually bring hydro out there??

Oh...but...I see the problem. Moonias most likely feels the same as , over indulged, entitled attitude found with Shoal Lake 40 FN chief...

He wants clean drinking water to come out of the taps but.....the hydro is for Neskantaga only ...and surely they deserve a private road ...and private internet and private waste water treatment plant....so the public can't get a glimpse of what is really going on there.

He casts blame at others' for increased drug addiction at the reserve he is chief over...because the people thought there were jobs coming....he actually said this. So I guess with added job hopes dashed....more drugs are needed?

This is probably the only honest thing coming out of him. I truly believe there are some victims at the reserve he runs hopful for a better life but ....they are stuck there ....and Moonias is holding up a road and holding up jobs because.....???

I'm sure he's doing just great with the money he takes and I am sure he has unlimited very fancy expensive bottled water to drink...and plenty of fineries..while many on his reserve suffer in despair...unless they are band members or relatives of the band members..of course.
