All the lovey stuff between Trudeau and the natives is just politics. The bottom line is cost and when Trudeau does finally cost it all out the tune will change. Actually he is giving himself a way out by promising to deal with the native groups on a nation to nation basis. This would allow him to throw all their problems in their lap which would be good for Noront. That way Noront would only have to deal with the native nations bypassing the Federal and Provincial governments. Would be much easier to deal with a bunch of third world nations desperate for money ( assuming the government doesn't take financial responsibility for these independent nations). The money the government now gives to these native nations would be foreign aid subject to current guidelines for foreign aid. That would force the natives to become self sufficient and thus more willing to accept mining (assuming they don't go crazy like the Mongolians did). The choice will be mining or go back to becoming hunter gatherers.
