Message: Drilling
If drilling is so expensive and there is so much of it to do...why not buy a drill or two and sub out operators from a drilling company...or hire their own directly? I am a drilling contractor, I've done work all over Canada including work in the Ring for Noront when they were doing the EA many years ago. I've also worked at the Victor project where Debeers finally caught on and bought 2 x A5 diamond drills for exploration and subbed the operators out...much cheaper, no demob costs, and they can put together drill programs on a whim. 2 rigs and tooling would run just over a mil...lots of manufacturers around at PDAC. Seems too simple, I've even mentioned it to Mark Baker when I was up there. Hopefully management is reading this and they at least entertain the idea...over years it will save tens of millions of shareholder $, and help exploration operations to run much smoother. I'm trying to get the same idea out to PGD up in Baffin Island right now...why pay premium rates and then demob a rig when there's so much more drilling to be done...how many people would rent a car with a chauffeur for two years when you could buy/lease one for a tenth the price and drive it yourself? Cheers
