As for the debt list you posted, you must know that debt is not turned around the day a new government takes office. Sometimes it takes one or two budgets.
What I remember is that when Trudeau senior left office the debt was 170 billion and Mulroney during his election campaign was riling about that debt and promissed to reduce it. But did the opposite in record numbers that still stand.
Martin under Chretien and then as himself did everything to reverse that trend. However he had to make us pay for it and was thus turfed out.
All I wanted to say was that Canada did see those records then and not now. Saying that it is now is misdirecting and I prefer to call it a plain lie.
