As for Sudbury, the NDP was quick to blame Kathleen Wynne's government. Nickel Belt MPP France Gelinas said the Liberals are failing to take action to help create jobs in Sudbury.
"Sudbury families continue to face the highest unemployment rate in the province, and the second highest in the country," Gelinas said in a release. "Despite this, the Wynne Liberals aren't taking the action needed to help create jobs for people in Sudbury who are looking for work and can't find it.
"The Wynne government's inaction is affecting the future of Sudbury. Every month there are less and less jobs for young people who want to stay and work in Sudbury. More and more people are being forced to leave the city to look for a job elsewhere because of this government's failure to take action ...
"Liberal inaction cost Sudbury 4,000 jobs since April of last year," Gelinas said.
Gelinas said the time is now to support large-scale infrastructure projects that would create jobs and improve quality of life for northerners.
"The Wynne government must stop forsaking Sudbury families and act now on job-creating infrastructure projects for the city like Highway 69, the Capreol seniors' housing complex, NEO Kids and the development of the Ring of Fire."
