Message: Green Energy and those um err...Broader voices.

Thanks SS76 for posting the article today from the Toronto Star.

My "favorite line" from Trudeau.. was this:

"The only way to build pipelines, eventually, will be to have Canadians understand that we’re both protecting the environment and building a strong economy at the same time. That’s why we’ve refreshed and renewed the process, that’s why we’re listening to broader voices"

It's interesting to me how "broader voices"...seem to position themselves accordingly and then,,,,,,,make their voices ...heard.

As an example...nickel chromium, iron ore, choking coal will be wonderful investments with this ..ummm ..err......green energy stuff....and of course ,,,,"refreshing and renewing the pipelines will benefit" ...those positioned acccordingly.

Here is a nice little link to look at from the nickel institute.....

Oil and gas:

"As mentioned above, in the case of carbon steel piping, a chemical has to be injected to stop corrosion. That chemical ends up in the fluid that is re-injected back into the ground. Corrosion-resistant nickel-containing stainless steel and nickel alloys on the other hand help to minimize the risk of contamination of the surroundings or ground waters due to spillage of corrosion inhibitor-contaminated water.

Recently, Wynne has been blabbing about Geothermal.....solar....

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/ontario-to-spend-7-billion-in-sweeping-climate-change-plan/article30029081/

We are on the cusp of a once-in-a-lifetime transformation. It’s a transformation of how we look at our planet and the impact we have on it,” reads a preamble to the plan signed by Ms. Wynne. “It’s a transformation that will forever change how we live, work, play and move.”

Highlights include:

  • $3.8-billion for new grants, rebates and other subsidies to retrofit buildings, and move them off natural gas and onto geothermal, solar power or other forms of electric heat. Many of these programs will be administered by a new Green Bank, modelled on a similar agency in New York State, to provide financing for solar and geothermal projects.

Geothermal Energy

Geothermal energy use is already established, particularly where there is volcanic or seismic activity. Heat is usually extracted either by tapping into hot water or pumping water into the hot rock. In either case, the resulting hot water can also be saline, and so corrosive. Nickel-containing stainless steels and corrosion resisting nickel alloys may be needed to withstand these conditions.

Solar Energy

There are three different ways to harness the solar energy: low temperature collection, concentrating solar power and photo-voltaic systems. Low temperature systems typically use a flat-plate collector to heat water. Nickel-containing stainless steels may be used for the collector and associated pipes. They can have a selective surface applied which absorbs the solar radiation very effectively but does not re-radiate much energy at the temperature of the collector.

An array of mirrors can be used to concentrate the solar radiation onto receivers where the temperature can reach 500°C. The heat is taken away by molten salts in heat and corrosion resistant stainless steel tubing. Stainless steel tanks containing molten salts are also used to store the heat.

Photo-voltaic (PV) systems generate electricity directly and may use stainless steel for the frames of the panels.

I strongly urge you folks to browse and learn about how nickel is used for nuclear, fuel cells, biofuel, wind, energy storage...etc..

Then ..ask yourself with all this move for GREEN...how long is nickel going to stay at $4 LB.

What about chromium to make stainless...?? Where will the price for that go?

And iron ore? Metallurgical coal that is needed to make steel (Metallurgical coal – or coking coal – is a vital ingredient in the steel making process. ... Coking coal is converted to coke by driving off impurities to leave almost pure carbon. ... Integrated smelting involving blast furnace iron-making followed by basic oxygen furnace & electric )

Wow, can't stop thinking about the company that picked up all these chapter11 coal companies at an over 90% discount.. boy will them make good dough...

Same for the cheap grab of the iron ore companies...

And think about the Rof companies ....yum yum yum...

Once the broader voices....finish with "their" agenda...the lights will start turning green...

Before I forget...

Essar Steel Algoma in the Sault and US Steel Hamilton will have new owners supposedly by Sept. 1.....I wonder who they will be ..
