Inca, I have to disagree with you in your statement :"Canada is not a mining friendly country". But, I do agree with your statement..it's one of the world's best finds.

Inca,...your statement of "it's one of the world's best finds", that is the problem...kind of...
The ROF find is so damn incredibly good that LOTS can be done with it..to make "some" a lot of money.
So...those with money and power can make things temporarily .."unfriendly."

Canada is "temporarily" not a mining friendly country. The Toronto Sun gave you a good hint in 2013. Think outside of the Oil sands- sandbox for a minute.

Unfortunately, there are environmental and other radical groups that would seek to block this opportunity to diversify our trade. Their goal is to stop any major project no matter what the cost to Canadian families in lost jobs and economic growth. No forestry. No mining. No oil. No gas. No more hydro-electric dams.
These groups threaten to hijack our regulatory system to achieve their radical ideological agenda. They seek to exploit any loophole they can find, stacking public hearings with bodies to ensure that delays kill good projects. They use funding from foreign special interest groups to undermine Canada’s national economic interest. They attract jet-setting celebrities with some of the largest personal carbon footprints in the world to lecture Canadians not to develop our natural resources. Finally, if all other avenues have failed, they will take a quintessential American approach: sue everyone and anyone to delay the project even further. They do this because they know it can work. It works because it helps them to achieve their ultimate objective: delay a project to the point it becomes economically unviable.
Anyone looking at the record of approvals for certain major projects across Canada cannot help but come to the conclusion that many of these projects have been delayed too long. In many cases, these projects would create thousands upon thousands of jobs for Canadians, yet they can take years to get started due to the slow, complex and cumbersome regulatory process

A robust steel, stainless steel industry in Canada would certainly be attractive to many other countries, so those with money and power have been using the long con to achieve control over the resources needed for this new industry...
Were we not told that...... Ontario is the ONLY dot on the entire PLANET...that has all ingredients to make stainless steel...within 500km of each other??

But ,....to pick up all the ingredients to make this stuff and not to forget the facilities for manufacturing.....for very very cheap...
....certain...tactics had to be used.....to create this ...cheap grab.
"unfriendliness"
"high USA dollar"
"allow dumping of cheap stuff from other countries ..."

"expansion by "some"...during times of low demand"

But....now that the cheap grabs for the most part are “almost’ done...conditions will become ...more friendly...

I mean....just 3 weeks ago...look at this tough stance....
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trade-steel-idUSKCN0YH00R

Last week the U.S. Commerce Department slapped punitive tariffs of more than 500 percent on Chinese cold-rolled flat steel, which is widely used for car body panels and appliances.

China has come under increasing fire from industrialized countries worldwide that have accused it of dumping steel at prices far below production costs to avoid cutting excess capacity in the sector, which faces slowing demand at home
...................
The escalating steel trade fight has grown into a major irritant as senior U.S. and Chinese officials prepare for bilateral economic and foreign policy meetings in Beijing in early June.

The Commerce Department issued anti-dumping duties of 210 percent on all Chinese-produced corrosion resistant steel. Final anti-subsidy duties ranged from 39 percent for many producers to 241 percent for some of the largest ones including Baosteel (600019.SS), Hebei Iron & Steel Group (000709.SZ) and Angang Group.

A regional structure is the route we have to take
to leverage partnerships with producers in the US – partnership is how we innovate,” Wynne said. On June 10, Wynne and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were at General Motors Canada in Oshawa, Ont. to announce the creation of 700 engineering and software development positions to advance the automaker’s autonomous vehicle technologies.
Ray Tanguay, the former Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada chief who has been tapped by the federal and provincial governments to identify automotive manufacturing investment opportunities with global producers, was also in attendance at the APMA event. Known for his commitment to lean manufacturing,
he said the route to attracting foreign investment in Ontario’s auto plants depends on having the most competitive supply chains

hmmm...competitive supply chains...
All ingredients to make stainless within 500km of eachother.....

Only approx. 7% of the ROF has been explored.....when you think of all the stuff found so far.....and this is from memory only:
nickel, copper, platinum, palladium, titanium, vanadium, chromium, rare earths, gold, iron ore, diamonds ...
And this is in the 7% explored!....What else lies under there??

If I was building stuff...like cars (just one example). I would most certainly consider putting more investment into Ontario to be so close to the supply....chain..

And after looking at this metal stew in the ROF..I'd be promoting green energy like crazy...”make it here folks...we have a great supply chain...of stuff...!!!”

Unfriendly days are soon to be....over...once things are "just ...right."
