Northerners are now able to see a digital 'snapshot' of their region - complete with interactive maps - thanks to the Northern Ontario Infrastructure Map.
The interactive map, commissioned by the Northern Policy Institute, allows users to see northern Ontario's various 'assets,' including roads, rail, bus stops, economic zones and electoral districts.
Julien Borin, the map's designer, said the purpose of the map is to provide an overview, or snapshot, of the north's existing groundwork in order to identify and build on regional strengths.
"This initiative aligns with our mandate to improve measurement in our region and build sustainable community capacity in Northern Ontario," said Northern Policy Institute President and CEO, Charles Cirtwill in a press release.
"We invite [everyone] to send us updates at mappingthenorth@northernpolicy.ca in order to enhance our collective understanding of the North."

The Northern Ontario Infrastructure Map will be an ongoing process at Northern Policy Institute, which will continue to be updated as new data and information becomes available.
