I've interacted with a lot of Elders over the years. Elder refers to knowledge, wisdom and experience not age although its hard to get the former without having lived a while. That said being old does not make one an elder in aboriginal society.

So without knowing what was said at this 'meet' or the purpose of it why do you see a negative in this?
