Thanks Lar, for confirming that chromite ore is inert and unlikely to cause dangerous pollution. People who hear of the problems caused by pollution of air & water with hexavalent chromite aren't generally aware of the conditions required to produce this stuff from the chromite ore. They are rightfully wary of any possibility of the hexavalent form being released, but might be reassured if they knew more about how & under what conditions it can form.
