Consider how long the private messaging has been down. For a web based forum this is beyond unreasonable. A techy 12 year old could fix it. This may sound conspiracy like but maybe 'somebody' does not want the unrestricted sharing of very insightful knowledge.

I would bet that after the ring ignites that suddenly the PM system might magically start again.

If this message is removed the probability of it being true is magnified.
