A lot of fuss about nothing. The arsenic in the tailings does not leap in the air and into your mouth and is not absorbed through the skin. Unless you eat the tailings it is not a problem. The problem of air pollution in and around cities is much worse but does not draw as much attention because it is easier to complain about mining. I won't even get into water pollution same BS.
