THUNDER BAY, ON
Kiikenomaga Kikenjigewen Employment & Training Services (KKETS) hosted the
graduation of their 4th cohort of students on March 22, 2017 at the Valhalla Inn in the traditional territory of Fort William First Nation.
Representatives from the Matawa First Nations Management, KKETS Board of Directors, the Constituency Office of Hon. Patty Hajdu, Ontario Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development (Indigenous Education Branch), Lakehead District School Board, and the Lakehead Adult Education Centre joined in
recognizing students successfully completing the 2016/2017 Aboriginal Skills Advancement Program (ASAP) and obtaining their Ontario Secondary School Diplomas with many completing their post-secondary entrance requirements.
Chiefs from Aroland, Long Lake #58, Ginoogaming and Nibinamik First
Nations, along with proxies from Eabametoong and Neskantaga First Nations also attended.
Caleb Shaganash from Ginoogaming First Nation and Dorothy Atlookan from Eabametoong First Nation provided valedictory remarks. Matawa First Nations student recognition awards were also presented.
