TORONTO (June 12, 2017) - The 43rd All Ontario Chiefs Conference (AOCC) will be held from Tuesday, June 13th to Thursday, June 15th at Lac Seul First Nation. This year’s theme is “Determining Our Path: Stability for Future Generations.” The AOCC is hosted by Nishnawbe Aski Nation in the territory of Treaty #3.
“In this new era of Reconciliation, and the nation to nation relationship with both the federal and provincial governments, there will be much rewarding work to be done at this year’s AOCC,” said Regional Chief Isadore Day. “I especially look forward to the increased leadership role our youth have taken. They are the future leaders and professionals who will continue to elevate our Peoples and secure our rightful place in both Ontario and Canada.”
Various dignitaries and government officials will be on hand to meet with the Chiefs throughout the three-day conference. Some of the highlights will include sector updates from Environment, Social Services, Justice, Education and Health and include information on energy and infrastructure, policing and climate change.
Each day will begin with a sunrise ceremony and end with reflections from youth and Elders.
For those unable to attend, the AOCC will be live streamed at: https://zoom.us/j/476825972
