JamesBay,

The photo in the article Marten Falls meets the miners was ..interesting..but so was the article itself..

https://www.northernontariobusiness.com/regional-news/far-north-ring-of-fire/marten-falls-meets-the-miners-694389

Marten Falls First Nation, one of the communities on the path to the Ring of Fire, staged an inaugural Mining Symposium in Thunder Bay, Aug. 8 and 9.

An Aug. 11 community news release said it was an opportunity for its members to meet the companies conducting exploration in the undeveloped and remote chromite and nickel belt.”

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++==

I found the use of the word inaugural ..interesting..

It means the opening or the launching…..of “something.”

Then the article states..It was an opportunity for its members to meet the companies conducting exploration…

But, if this was the case…only Noront, and KWG would be there meeting the members..….the rest in the picture…are not conducting…exploration…

Then, one of the ladies present in the picture  Larissa Mikkelson who works at Five Rivers matawa(which is a dept in matawa first nation)…....puts this on her facebook

Marten Falls Members come out, learn and ask questions! That includes Youth, especially from high school age up!

FourRivers Matawa is in attendence supporting the Marten Falls All-Season Road Project.

=================================================================

But the article states this gathering was for marten falls members to meet companies conduction exploration..

But FourRiver matawa states they are in attendance to support the Marten Falls All Season Road…

Then there is the issue of Aecon being in the picture….for an event put together for introducing exploration companies to marten Falls members…

Aecon started a strategic partnership with matawa July 8, 2013... Aecon is a Canadian leader in infrastructure...not exploration.

http://www.aecon.com/Media_Room/~1307-Aecon-announces-strategic-partnership

Representation from Atco was also there..

To me ….when I look at the picture of the folks there….and the facebook words from matawa first nation’s dept called FourRiver…..…”are in attendance to support the marten falls all season road”

And the work Inaugural meaning “opening or launching of something”….

To me …rather than call it  an opportunity for its members to meet the companies conducting exploration….It looked like a meeting related to the road. And the meeting looked happy.

The Marten Falls members…know the noront , kwg, and aecon folk very well because of years of work and meeting….no reason for a meeting to meet who you already know.

 Then the article stated:

Northern Development and Mines assistant deputy minister Christine Kaszycki confirmed to Northern Ontario Business in late May that the province has been holding discussions with Marten Falls for a road that would connect the remote reserve to the provincial highway system.

The road alignment is being left to the community to decide.

If a route is chosen, it would relieve some of the pressure on the Wynne government to show signs of making tangible progress on mining and community-related infrastructure heading into the 2018 provincial election"

 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

so what we got here is the matawa first nation supporting the marten Falls road, wynne needing an agreed to route to show signs of making progress ....and we have a picture of an inaugural event ...which includes a company that builds infrastructure...Looks good to me :)
