Noront Receives National Environmental and Social Responsibility Award
The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) has recognized Noront Resources’ accomplishments and commitment to social initiatives in Northern Ontario with its 2015 Environmental and Social Responsibility Award.
It is Noront’s vision to be a leader in developing mutually beneficial relationships with Aboriginal communities in and around Northern Ontario’s Ring of Fire. Since 2009, the company has worked to expand its community outreach and engagement which includes programs in education, skills training, youth programming and economic development in Northern Ontario. PDAC has particularly acknowledged its Ring of Fire Aboriginal Training Alliance, Mining Matters program, and DAREarts movie making youth camp partnership.
The annual PDAC awards showcase the achievements of companies, individuals and groups in the mineral exploration and mining sector by highlighting the best in domestic and international mineral discovery, mine development, Aboriginal achievement, environmental and social responsibility, and distinguished service.

The tremor Wall Street felt last Tuesday was caused by a letter—the annual epistle from BlackRock CEO Larry Fink to CEOs of companies in which the world’s biggest institutional investor owns shares.
To paraphrase an old EF Hutton TV ad, when BlackRock talks, people listen. Behind Fink is more than $6 trillion in global assets. That’s equal to 20% of the total U.S. market value, as measured by the Russell 3000 Index.
Fink’s letter is too long to reprint, but here’s the salient part: “Society is demanding that companies…serve a social purpose. To prosper over time, every company must not only deliver financial performance, but also show how it makes a positive contribution to society.”
