Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says the budget released by the Liberals is nothing but an election budget.
Fedeli says the Liberals routinely break their promises and adds we shouldn’t put much stock in Wednesday’s document.
He says they didn’t keep their promises in the last election and there’s no reason to believe they’ll keep their promises in the upcoming election.
However Fedeli says buried deep in the budget is the Liberal plan to increase taxes by $2 billion and he says that you can count on.
Meanwhile the budget recommits $1 billion towards the Ring of Fire.
The commitment has been made every year since 2014 except last year.
But Fedeli says don’t expect the Liberals to move the project forward just because they say the money is back in place.
He says in 2006 when he was North Bay Mayor, the Liberals told him the mines at the Ring of Fire would be operational by 2016.
Fedeli says we’re now two years and counting beyond that point and still not a single mine has opened up at the site.
