Doug Ford is scheduled to visit Kenora next week.

The newly-installed leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative (PC) party is planning a three-day trip to Northwestern Ontario, including a stop in Kenora, early next week (April 9). According to a PC press release Ford will speak with people in the region about the challenges they have faced or are facing under the Liberal government led by Kathleen Wynne.

“Kathleen Wynne and the Liberals have ignored northwestern Ontario. They have even called the North a ‘no man’s land,’” said Ford. “Under the Ontario PCs, Northern Ontario will be a priority. No part of our province will be forgotten.

Ford added that in the last 14 years under Liberal rule, Northern Ontarians have faced many challenges including skyrocketing hydro rates, cuts to front-line care at Northern hospitals and the pretty-much destroyed forestry sector.

“The Liberals have failed to take action on the Ring of Fire, and even cut funding to the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines,” said Ford.

PC candidate for Kenora-Rainy River in the upcoming June 7 provincial election Greg Rickford will accompany Ford on his trip through Northwestern Ontario. Rickford said it’s time for regional families, businesses, health care professionals and municipalities to have their voices heard.

“It’s time for a change at Queen’s Park I look forward to bringing a strong voice, experience and results for Kenora-Rainy River,” said Rickford. “ I know that under a Doug Ford government, northwestern Ontario will be heard.”
