This work will continue under an Ontario Liberal government.

Well Mr Get it Right continuing what you were doing and not actually getting it started is likely going to be too little too late?

TIMMINS - Doug Ford’s math is wrong. Regardless of his accounting, we know across the board cuts are coming to Northern Ontario. He simply can’t pay for his promises unless other investments are put on the chopping block.

Programs like the Northern Health Travel Grant, which helps Northerners traveling long distances access specialized medical care, are at risk under Doug Ford. So is the newly expanded ONTC bus service, which recently added service to more communities. The Conservatives have already voted against Thunder Bay’s basic income pilot too. However he wants to do the math, communities will find themselves with less.

Unlike Ford, we are taking concrete steps to increase fairness and create more opportunity for everyone, including First Nations communities. This includes removing the delivery charge for all on-reserve First Nations residential customers, investing over $222 million through the First Nations Health Action Plan, and partnering respectfully with First Nations on the Ring of Fire. We are also moving towards resource revenue sharing arrangements with First Nations for forestry stumpage, mining tax and royalties. This work will continue under an Ontario Liberal government. The same can’t be said if Doug Ford were in charge.

Michael Gravelle,

Liberal MPP, Ontario Minister of Northern Development and Mines
